Mrs. GREEN APPLE -- StaRt

I realize that this band has an opening theme song, "Inferno"(インフェルノ)for a currently running anime right now titled "En En no Shouboutai"(炎炎ノ消防隊...Fire Force) that my friend and I are watching.

However, the first time I heard of Mrs. GREEN APPLE was through this raunchy and happy rock tune called "StaRt". This was the opening track from their major debut third mini-album, "Variety", released in July 2015. This 5-member band who come from Tokyo and Nagano Prefecture likes their own variety of pop & rock music, according to their J-Wiki entry. They've apparently dabbled in plain rock, alternative rock, pop/rock, synthesizer pop and guitar pop.

With "StaRt", though, it's quite a hearty blend with a timpani at the start and perhaps some other instruments that would give Mrs. GREEN APPLE a possible invitation to a session of the the Society for Creative Anachronism. Written and composed by vocalist Motoki Ohmori(大森元貴), it has that similar effect of drinking down a glass of apple juice first thing in the morning (although I'm a conventional orange juice man myself).

The rest of Mrs. GREEN APPLE consists of leader/guitarist Hiroto Wakai(若井滉斗), drummer Ayaka Yamanaka(山中綾華), keyboardist Ryoka Fujisawa(藤澤涼架), and bassist Kiyokazu Takano(髙野清宗). As for the derivation of the name of the band, apparently someone wanted a name of a food in there, and it was decided to go with a green apple since the fruit has that image of something just on the cusp of maturing. The "Mrs." was placed at the front to add that neutral feeling (well, that's what was said there).

9 singles have been released up to this April and including their first three mini-albums, the band has released a total of 6 albums with another one scheduled to be released later in October titled "Attitude".
