Kirinji -- nestling

 

Can't quite believe that it's been over five years since Kirinji's splendid "Jikan ga nai"（時間がない） hit cyberspace with SALARYWAVE fans in thrall. It's the one song that had me changing my view of the Horigome brothers since up until I saw that middle-aged section chief trip the light fantastic all by his lonesome, I'd seen Kirinji（キリンジ）as modern-day balladeers not fellows into contemporary disco.

Well, things have still happened since 2018. It's just Takaki Horigome（堀込高樹）as Kirinji which is no longer in its band mode. Mind you, the lone Horigome has been plenty busy these past few months, putting out three digital singles during that time including this first one from April this year, "nestling". Written and composed by the vocalist, it doesn't have quite the disco from "Jikan ga nai" but it still has plenty of groove and oomph for a nice driving song about finding that sanctuary to recharge before getting back on that horse for the next big challenge. "nestling" also has that fun and spacey pop vibe that I think was a hallmark of Kirinji the band.
