XinU -- Fureru Kuchibiru(触れる唇)

Well, the Summer Olympics are close to wrapping up for another four years and the annual Canadian National Exhibition here in Toronto will be starting up once more in about a week or so which means that the season is just about to enter the homestretch. Hopefully, things will cool down a tad although I believe that the nights are getting plenty cool already.

Recently, I came across this appropriately sunny song titled "Fureru Kuchibiru" (The Touch of Your Lips) by singer-songwriter XinU (pronounced Shin-Yuu) with help from Shohei Matsushita and Youta Shoji as songwriters. There's a nicely thrumming rhythm underlying everything here inviting listeners to join XinU and company on the beach chairs by the lapping shoreline. There's something about the arrangement of "Fureru Kuchibiru" that reminds me of some of the material by the late Kazuhito Murata(村田和人).

The song is the third track on her 3rd LP released in June 2024, "XinU EP #03". XinU debuted in 2021 and likes to dabble in a mélange of R&B, jazz, hip-hop and folk which she has apparently dubbed Neo Tokyo Cross Over Rock Jazz Damn!!. Hey, whatever works...just don't kill me.😱
