Yutaka Kimura Speaks ~ Japanese City Pop Masterpieces 100: Kengo Kurozumi -- Pillow Talk

Number: 069

Lyricist: Yoshiko

Composer: Kengo Kurozumi

Arranger: David Garfield

From Kurozumi's 1989 album: "Pillow Talk"

Listening to nice and medium-tempo "Pillow Talk" which was recorded in Los Angeles, I am convinced that Kurozumi is the closest person to the description of Japanese AOR. This is a number that I feel brings together everything that makes up the gentle Kengo Kurozumi(黒住憲五)world from the songwriting to the vocals to the overall sound. I wonder if it would be a little over the top to say that this was one of the final sparks of City Pop at the end of the 80s.

The above comes from "Disc Collection Japanese City Pop Revised" (2020).
