When I saw that title, "Pile Driver", it brought all sorts of images to mind and at least a couple of them had me arching my eyebrow enough to make Mr. Spock concerned.
There is the pile driver needed in construction.
And then there is the exciting move in wrestling called a pile driver.
I figured that there just had to be a cocktail called a Pile Driver and one such drink consists of the following: 1/3 oz. orange juice, 1/3 oz. vodka and 1/3 oz. prune juice. So this is basically a Screwdriver with a prune juice chaser. But with that final ingredient, I can see why it would be named a Pile Driver. Still, Lt. Worf would approve. It is indeed a warrior's drink.
Finally there is one more definition for a Pile Driver which is definitely NSFW and something that you can look up at any Urban Dictionary.
And quickly getting away from the darker sides of a pile driver, we also have Toshiki Kadomatsu's(角松敏生)"Pile Driver" from his June 1986 11th studio album "Touch and Go". I've got some idea why the protagonist lover in this song would refer to his love 'em-and-leave 'em partner as a pile driver, and yep that Urban Dictionary definition is dangerously close at hand, but the beginning of the song has the sound of the construction device that I initially mentioned, so Kadomatsu may be covering a lot of bases here. Regardless, it was apparently quite the night.
Everything involved was taken care of by Kadomatsu and as one commenter stated for the top video, it is quite the banger. The intro sounds like it would be perfect for Vaporwave transformation and sure enough, uploader supersolnova0131, has made an 80s remix out of "Pile Driver". With some of those sound effects in there, I couldn't help but wonder what an avant-garde unit such as Art of Noise could have done with this song.
