To reiterate the old saying "A picture is worth a thousand words". And I've often thought this but that cover photo of Sentimental City Romance's(センチメンタル・シティ・ロマンス)November 1982 album "Dancing" is simultaneously cute and creepy; I'm assuming that the animal there is indeed feline. The picture has never left my mind since I first saw it in "Japanese City Pop".
A couple of songs from the album have found themselves on the blog, nikala's posting for "Flight Tonight" and her other article on "Miss Biscuit". Tonight's contribution from "Dancing" is "Turning Point" which is quite the AOR/rock number created by vocalist, the late Tokuo Nakano (中野督夫) with further help from lyricist Takao Ito(いとうたかお). Some great guitar and percussion being pummeled away in this one. The title, the exciting arrangement and Nakano's growly vocals hint at some thriller adventure out in America.
Flight Tonight is my fav song. So relaxing.
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah...and it's about twice as long as a usual pop song. Double the pleasure. :)
DeleteWow, cute and creepy! You sure know how to paint a picture!
ReplyDeleteIf you wanna see something truly terrifying on an album cover, try Anli Sugano's "Anli ~ Ichi"(アンリ~いち...One).
